There's no food like my food: Senegal and Morocco
Compare and contrast living in Senegal and Morocco, two countries in Africa from the videos you saw earlier in class today. What do you think about their way of life...how they live and what they eat. What did surprised you or what is something new that you learned?

In Senegal, the people ate with their hands & in Morocco they could eat with their hand or a spoon. They are similar in what they ate & how they cook it. They eat just about everything for the fact that they are limited to what types of food they have & how they are poor & can't afford much. I could not live there or even visit because I am so use to our way of life & would go crazy not being able to have electricity for a long period of time. I learned they are content not having luxury items to survive.
ReplyDeleteIn Senegal, the people ate with their hands most of the time but in Morocco they mainly ate with utensils. In Senegal they ate more seafood such as fish and squid. Where as in Morocco they ate chicken and fish. It surprised me how everyone eats outside. They're are not picky about what they eat and they love all kinds of foods. They are very mature and their family is their first priority.I learned that you don't need fancy things or exspensive things to survive.

Surprising facts: In Morocco the men and women eat at sepatare tables. In Senegal the mother cooks everything in one kettle.
What I think about their way of life: I would not be able to live in Africa because I am to used to bein pampered and haveing everything a few minutes away and most of the part done for me.
The way they live and the way we live are very different.We are very picky about the things we eat.They are very different too,the young girl from Morocco was eating eggs with flour.The boy fromSenegal seemed like he was eating good compared to what she was eating.the new things that i learned was to appreciate the things we have here not to be so picky about everything because some people have alot worst then us.the way they dress from the look of it they don't have much to choose from and here we complain about having high priced clothes that dosen't mean anything.After watching those videos i will do or at least try to do is appreciate things more.
ReplyDeleteIn Senegal, they ate with their hands and when they held the plate, the males used the thumb and the females used the index finger. In Morocco, it was optional to use either a utensil or to use their hands. The only thing similar I saw was their cooking styles.
ReplyDeleteBoth Senegal and Morocco seem to be very hot. The two kids both have learned how or the way their food is prepared. They also understand the value of their family dinners. As well as any other time they eat together. Both eat with their hands when they can.
ReplyDeleteIn Senegal it appears to be a tradition that a your godfather must come everyday to eat. Although it just could have been that he was just coming for the camera time. The people in Senegal have a dark complexion.
In Morocco there are many traditions for a young girls birthday. The people shown in the video appear to make everything they can themselves. The people in Morocco have a light complexion.
I think their way of life is very different then ours. But there is nothing wrong with their way of life. They indoors but spend most of their time out doors. They eat foods that are well known to their country but odd to ours. The only things that surprised me was the color of the godfathers(of the boy in Senegal) hair.

In Morocco, it was optional to use either a sppon or your hand the simliariteis where that they both were very big on cooking they had to do alot to prepare the food and needed alot of matierls to make the food taste good they needed alot of spices

In Senegal everyone eats at the same time and in one group but in Morocco the women eat on one table and the men on another table.
Their way of life isn't easy but they seem to be happy with what they have!
In Senegal they eat with their hands. In Moroco they eat with their hands or a spoon. They are both alike and eat the same foods but like to cook outside. In Senegal the males eat with their thumbs and females with their index fingers.
ReplyDeleteI think that eating is something they really look forward to. They eat fish and rice covered with some sauce. I learned they like to help their family cook and love to eat.
people in senegal tend to use there hands more than people in morocco. also, people in morocco had a one dinner for women and one for everyone. in sengal they all just eat together aslo they where celebrating two different things one was a visit from a family member and the other was a birthday party

The people in Senegal mainly ate with their hands, while the people in Morocco ate more with spoons. They both cook outside, and they have similar tastes in foods.
ReplyDeleteI learned that they are very family oriented and cooking is a big thing in their countries. They are appreciative for what they have and they don't take anything for granted.
the difference of the two is that in Senegal the people ate with their hands and most of the time they ate their meals outside of their home,but in Morocco the people got to choose whether or not they wanted to use their hands or utensils.the similarity between the two is that they all kind of created their food from scratch,and they both enjoyed eating almost more than anything...lol
ReplyDeleteIn both countries the people ate with their hands, which i thought was nasty. But in Morocco they have spoons if they want to use them. Also in both countries everyone eats out of one big bowl. The way they live and the resources in both countries seems to be the same, and they both eat outside everyday. One thing that was different was that in Senegal the children had to hold the bowl up for everyone to eat out of, in Morocco they had tables. I personally dont think i would like the way they live, but the food looks good.
ReplyDeleteSome things that surpised me was that the kids didnt complain about working, and how everyone was okay with eating out of one big bowl that everyones hands were in.
They were different because like the people in Senegal would usally eat with their hands but Morocco had more of a choice and the similarities is they both like to eat eat eat,lol.
ReplyDeleteThe people in Senegal and Morocco eat with their hands. They both consider rice and a meat as a major dish and both like spicy foods. I learned that they are gratful for what they have.
